Improved smoothed particle dynamics simulation of eXtended Pom-Pom viscoelastic fluid

Viscoelastic fluids widely exist in nature and industrial production, the study of their complex rheological properties has important academic value application significance. In this work, an improved smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method is proposed to numerically simulate viscoelastic flow based on eXtended Pom-Pom (XPP) model. order improve accuracy calculation, a kernel gradient correction discrete format without derivative calculation adopted. prevent fluid particles from penetrating solid wall, enhanced boundary processing technology proposed. To eliminate tensile instability, artificial stress coupled into momentum equation conservation. Based XPP model, Poiseuille droplet impacting wall problem are simulated by using SPH method. The effectiveness advantages verified comparing solutions with analytical or finite difference convergence further evaluated several different sizes. On basis, influences parameters such as Reyonlds number <i>Re</i>, Weissenberg <i>Wi</i>, solvent viscosity ratio <i>β</i>, anisotropy parameter <i>α</i>, relaxation time <i>γ</i> molecular chain arm <i>Q</i> process analyzed depth. For flow, bigger larger steady-state velocity is; <i>Q</i>, smaller of<i> β</i>, weaker overshoot is, but it does not affect velocity. problem, <i>Re</i> faster spreads; shrinkage behavior final spreading width droplet; droplet’s γ</i> stronger its influence spread is. paper can effectively describe free surface variation characteristics
